Author Bret James Stewart's Monthly Musings, Issue #001 --New Release
February 04, 2015

In this issue, Bret James Stewart grapples with the following:

The awesomeness of “Tam o’Shanter”

Releasing a brand new Epic Fantasy Novel

Welcome to the initial Monthly Musings newsletter wherein I let you know what’s going on in my world and why you should care.
I spent most of the month doing formatting and setting up what felt like a thousand author platforms for the release of my new book, The Dragon’s Lullaby, (see below). In between these tasks, I actually found time to write some poetry, which was great. I completed a poem entitled “Endolyn’s Lament” and began a second one. I have been reading Dante’s The Divine Comedy, which is a poem, but I was much moved by Tolkien and Robert Burns. Speaking of Burns, is “Tam o’Shanter” not one of the best poems in the English language—well, hey, with a Scots dialect--? This poem burned within me and inspired me to begin the second poem even though they are not the same style or subject. By the way, Burns’ poem is frequently matched with a “translation” into regular English. Check out the Scots dialect first, trust me. It’s fun to read. Unless you were alive in Scotland 200 years ago, you aren’t going to know part of what he’s saying. That’s when you go to the translation.
The crowning achievement of the month for me was, of course, the preparation for the release of my debut novel, The Dragon’s Lullaby. It is an epic fantasy novel with great characters, an exciting plot, and engaging combat scenes. I got it up on Amazon in a print and a digital edition. That took a looooong time. To learn more about Lullaby, please see the book page. It was released on 1 February 2015. Paperback Edition The Dragon' Lullaby Kindle Edition Book Page
Thank you for checking out my first newsletter. I’ll have more for you next month. Until then, keep reading and growing.

Sincerely, Bret James Stewart
